HOW TO MAKE ONIGIRI/ OCTOPUS HOT DOGS

TUTORIAL: How to make onigiri/octo hot dogs

STEP 1: Get a cup about this big

STEP 2: Add 2 cups of rice to your rice cooker, and 2 and a half cups of water to make it sticky >w< If you don't have a rice cooker, you can also cook it in a pan

STEP 3: Let your rice cook for about 10-20 minutes or more

STEP 4: When your rice is ready take it out and out and put it in a bowl

STEP 5: Add some rice vinegar *You'll know when it's enough you don't need alot just a sprinkle*

STEP 6: Now mix the rice around, and add some salt after doing this mix it up some more

STEP 7: Place your some of your rice onto a plate

STEP 8: Next get a small bowl and fill it with water, next wet your hands. This will prevent the rice from sticking!

**These are my sister's hands**

STEP 9: Now you want to mold the rice into the shape of a triangle, after you've done that, poke a fairly sized hole into it

STEP 10: Now you're ready for the filling! I chose tuna for my filling so here's how to make it. Get a bowl and put 1 can of tuna in it, don't worry you won't need alot since it's a small hole, plus you can save the tuna for later. **Note: There are many other fillings you can put into onigiri**

STEP 11: Now add a spoon of mayo. I also like to add a bit of mustard but that's up to you, after you're done mix it all together. You could add more mayo but I decided against it since it's a bit fattening.

STEP 12:  Now get your onigiri, and fill up the hole :D That's what she said.

STEP 13: Now get a small pinch of rice and put it over your filling, concealing it.

STEP 14: Once you're done with that process, get out your dry sea weed and cut out a strip of it

STEP 15: Next wrap that sexy seaweed around your onigiri TwT

Cut off any excess sea weed

NOTE: You can also cut your seaweed into shapes to decorate your onigiri like this:

TIME TO MAKE YOUR OCTOPUS HOT DOGS! :D

STEP 1: Add some extra virgin olive oil onto your frying pan, and spread it out with a spatula.  You don't have to use olive oil, you may use pam, or butter, but I prefer to use olive oil since it's healthier.

STEP 2: While you're waiting for your pan to heat up time to get those hot dogs ready! Get out your hot dogs and cut them in half.

I used turkey hot dogs, since it's better for you than beef, but you are allowed to use which ever kind you would like! :D

STEP 3: Now get your halves and cut them into 4

Next, cut those pieces in half and you should get 8 legs for your octopus! :)

STEP 4: Now put your octo-dogs into your pan, let them cook for a while. I would suggest cooking them right side up, this will help their legs spread out more, this may be a bit difficult. (giggity)

STEP 5: once you've done that, put them onto a plate

I added mustard eyes onto my octo-dogs, but the traditional substitute for eyes are sesame seeds. (Which I didn't have)

STEP 6: Now add them to your bento box, and there you have it!

RESULT:

My Bento box

My sister's bento box

I also added apples in my bento box. A bento box is supposed to be balanced so please, always have some fruit or vegetable on the side instead of just wheat and meat!

**Incase you forgot**

2 Turkey Hot Dogs
2 cups of rice
Extra virgin olive oil
1 can tuna
1 spoon mayo
1 strip of seaweed

NOTE: rice and dry seaweed were bought at Mitsuwa Market Place. This is where I buy all my asian products, including the bento boxes.

HOPE IT TURNED OUT AWESOME!!! :D
